The YouTube and Vimeo video sites have the ability to use a TimeCode INDEX. If you right click on a video you are able to save the TimeCode position within the video you are watching, and then you can do normal HTML… eLearning can use this ability to INDEX the Sequential Video File to a specific location within that video. We used to call this ISAM – indexed Sequential Access Method in the Mainframe days of the IBM S/360 and S/370 mainframes and COBOL programming using Mag Tapes on the Mainframe. IF Google were to INDEX per content points of interest??? a video file, educators could use these TimeCodes to “Jump” directly to the Point of Interest for eLearning purposes.
